Floor Plan - Calculating Square Yardage and seaming opions

Below you will see a completed diagram including the necessary
cuts and indicating the placement of seams with a dotted line.

     This is exactly how I prepare each carpet installation for two
      reasons:
                      1. To show the customer where his seams will be
                            placed so there is no disagreement after the
                            carpet is installed.
                      2.   To supply the customer with the minimum yardage
                             necessary to do a proper installation.

Plan II Cuts

   Cut 1:       12.0 x 18.9
    Cut 2:       12.0 x 15.5
    Cut 3:       12.0 x 24.9
    Cut 4:       12.0 x 18.6
    Cut 5:       12.0 x   6.6

CUT 1:     12.0 x 18.9
     Living Room - covers all of the Living Room except for 2.9" fill on the width.
     Fills comes from CUT 5.

CUT 2:     12.0 x 15.5
     Dining Room - covers all of the Dining Room with no other fills.
     No Fills required.

CUT 3:     12.0 x 24.9
     Hall & 2 Bedrooms - covers all areas except for 3" fill on the width in both
     bedrooms.
     Fills come from Cut 5.

CUT 4:      12.0 x 18.9
     Master Bedroom - covers the entire master bedroom and fills.
     Fills come from waste in bathroom area Cut 4.

Notice that we have eliminated the seam by the kitchen doorway in the
     Dining Room area and made a stronger seam in the Living Room by
      increasing the width from the original 3" fill to a fill of approximately
      2'.9" in width.

We have improved the layout without increasing the yardage of the carpet
required and eliminated three seams at the same time in the Dining Room !
