How to use the Calculator

 

This calculator is designed to compute the Square Footage or Square Yardage you will require for your flooring purchases.   ..... These are approximate sizes ONLY!    .....  Consult a Carpet Specialist Prior to Purchase.

 

Instructions:

Top Section

      Simply enter the width and length of the desired area in feet and inches.
     The calculator will compute the Square Feet and Square Yardage.

    Example: 

    Enter 12.5 to indicate a room size 12½ feet.

    *See decimal conversion table at bottom of the page.

 

Bottom Section

     The bottom calculator is used to compute the yardage required for
      your steps.

      Simply enter the number of steps you have, the width and height of
      your steps and the calculator will compute the Square Feet and Square
      Yardage for you.

 

*Remember:

      Carpet is made in 12',  13'6" or 15' width, so if your room
           is 10'3" x 18'4" you must enter 12' in your width box or 
           your yardage will be calculated incorrectly.

      Certain Rooms may be wider than 12 feet. 
              

         Example: You are only carpeting one room 

                          Room Size is  17'3" x  20'6"


         The Calculator will compute that you require    411/4 Sq. Yds.
               

          In reality you require a 12 x 17'6" for Cut 1
                                                   12 x 17'6" for Cut 2
          Total  Cuts                      12 x 35'0"      or            462/3 Sq. Yds. 

The Excess is waste

1 in = 0.08

2 in = 0.17

3 in = 0.25

4 in = 0.33

5 in = 0.42

6 in = .050

7 in = 0.58

8 in = 0.67

9 in = 0.75

10 in = 0.83

11 in = 0.92
